Corbett National Park is not only India's oldest national park and tiger reserve, but is also one of the country's prime wildlife destinations, with tigers, leopards, elephants, and a vast variety of other animals and birds calling it home. Couple the natural splendor and diversity of Corbett with that of the Himalayan hamlet of Pangot, and you have a trip guaranteed to give you an amazing wildlife experience, as well as a chance to experience the culture and traditions of the Kumaoni people.

Located about 15km from Nainital, in Uttarakhand, India, Pangot is a small hill station that draws many birdwatchers due to its high bird diversity. One can see a great variety of Himalayan bird and mammal species in and around Pangot. The lush oak forests and stunning views also attract many tourists.

Day 01: Delhi to Corbett National Park

Meals: Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Tiger Camp Resort or similar 

Early morning drive from Delhi to Corbett National Park (282 km / 6 hr.). Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park in order to protect tigers and their habitat, Corbett National Park is India’s oldest national park. In the 1970s, it also became the first national park to come under the Project Tiger initiative. 

Arrive at Corbett in the afternoon. After lunch, the evening is free for local sightseeing. Overnight stay

Day 02: Corbett National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Tiger Camp Resort or similar

In the morning and afternoon, you will be taken for jeep safaris to the best available forest zone for Tiger Tracking and Wildlife viewing. The duration of the safari is about three hours each and is conducted early in the morning and in the afternoon till sunset. Each jeep can seat up to four people comfortably, but you will have an exclusive/private jeep for you. Besides you, the jeep will have an expert driver and a nature guide.

Expected key species: Ibisbill, Striated Heron, Little Cormorant, Indian Cormorant, Grey Heron, Western Yellow Wagtail, White Wagtail

Day 03: Corbett National Park to Pangot

Meals: Breakfast in Tiger Camp; Lunch and Dinner in Pangot
Accommodation: Jungle Lore Birding Lodge or other neighboring lodges

After breakfast proceed to Pangot (75 km / 3 hr.). Just 15 km from the popular hill station of Nainital, Pangot is an incredible place for bird-watching. The road to Pangot passes through mixed forests of thick oak, pine, and rhododendron. Perennial creeks and streams crisscross the area, adding to its beauty. Birding and enjoy the scenic beauty on the way. Reached Pangot, check-in at the resort, and evening free at leisure.

Day 04: Departure

Meal: Breakfast

Morning birding in Pangot. After breakfast, check out and proceed to Delhi Airport for an onward Journey (316 km / 8 hr.). Tour Ends
