Description
With its rich history and beautiful monuments, there is no doubt that Jaipur is steeped in culture and tradition, and is a great place for sightseeing. However, few know that Jaipur is also rich in wildlife. Once a sport hunting ground for the nobles of Jaipur, Jhalana is a leopard-rich forest that is the perfect quick addition to any Jaipur visit.

Situated right in the heart of Pink City Jaipur, Jhalana is slowly becoming a favorite destination to spot leopards in the wild. Situated near the Jaipur Airport and home to about 15-20 leopards, the Jhalana Leopard Safari Park sprawls over an area of 20 sq km. And to much delight of the visitors, the territory of some six leopards falls close to the tourist region of the Safari Park, making it easier to spot them often. Considering the location and the Leopard being a big shy cat, you might ask us, how can we spot them that easily at Jhalana? Well because Leopards are the apex predators here. Yes, these big cats have no bigger competition from any other predator here, making their survival easier...by making them bold and confident about their environs....and thus better sightings.

Jhalana is a reserved forest area. So besides the Leopards, you will be able to spot other smaller fauna including Striped Hyenas, Spotted Deer, Blue Bulls, and Wild Boars. Palm, Babul, Bamboo, and acacia trees continue to be methodically planted throughout the quartz hills and flat lands of the Aravallis where Jhalana is set. And thus it is also an ideal destination for migratory birds, despite being in the heart of the city.

An open gypsy safari is the best way to explore Jhalana Safari Park. The safari is just two-and-a-half hours long....leaving ample time at your hands to explore the city in the later part of the day, even if you spend five hours overall on the safaris, taking one each in the morning and evening.
