Day 01: Delhi to Bharatpur

Meals: Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Kadamb Kunj or Hotel Regenta or similar

The trip will begin early morning from Delhi to Bharatpur (201 km / 5 hr.). Arrival in Bharatpur is expected in the afternoon. Spend half a day birdwatching in Keoladeo National Park with your guide. You can choose to hire a bicycle or take an e-rickshaw ride for birding.

Afternoons during the monsoon can be warm but are often tempered by cool breezes and occasional showers. Post-lunch, as the temperature drops slightly, birding starts with renewed vigor. The rains rejuvenate the park, making it a vibrant, lush environment where the colors of the birds and the greenery seem even more vivid.

Late afternoon is a great time as many birds become more active again. Waterbirds like egrets, cormorants, and ibises can be seen in large numbers. The increased water levels during the monsoon also mean more opportunities to see reptiles like the Indian Rock Python and various species of turtles basking on the banks. The park's mammals, including the Sambar Deer and Wild Boar, are often seen moving about in the cooler, post-rain environment.

Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 02: Bharatpur to Delhi

Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: None

Spend half a day birdwatching in Keoladeo National Park with the guide.

In the monsoon season, Keoladeo Ghana National Park transforms into a lush, verdant paradise, making the mornings especially refreshing. Visitors typically start their day early to take advantage of the cooler temperatures and the vibrant activity of the park's wildlife. The park opens at dawn, and many birders prefer to hire an e-rickshaw.

Our guide is knowledgeable about the best bird-watching spots and can navigate the wet terrain effectively. Walking or bicycling are also great ways to explore, especially when the park is carpeted in green and the air is crisp and fresh.

The monsoon brings a surge of activity among the resident birds, and many species can be seen foraging for food or displaying their breeding plumage. Water levels in the lakes and marshes rise, attracting a variety of waterfowl, waders, and other wetland birds. It's a prime time to spot species like the Painted Stork, Grey Heron, and different species of kingfishers. Early mornings are also good for sighting mammals like the Nilgai, Spotted Deer, and occasionally the Golden Jackal, as they come out to feed in the cool weather.
